Is Street Fighter 6 Crossplay? Cross-Platform Play Explained
Yes. Street Fighter 6 is crossplay, and it is on by default. Players on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch 2 version all share one online pool and can fight each other across every major online mode. So if you have been asking “is Street Fighter 6 crossplay” before buying on a different system than your friends, the answer is yes: you can play together with no extra setup beyond one menu check.
SF6 crossplay is full and on by default. There is no cross-save or cross-progression, though, so your rank, currency, and unlocks stay on the platform you bought.
Which platforms support Street Fighter 6 crossplay?
Crossplay connects every platform Street Fighter 6 runs on. On PC, Street Fighter 6 is sold through Steam only; there is no separate Microsoft Store or Xbox PC app release.
| Platform | SF6 available? | Crossplay |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Yes | Yes |
| PlayStation 4 | Yes | Yes |
| PC (Steam) | Yes | Yes |
| Xbox Series X and S | Yes | Yes |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Yes | Yes |
| Xbox One | No | N/A |
| Original Nintendo Switch | No | N/A |
So a PS5 player can fight a Steam player, an Xbox Series player can fight a PS4 player, and every combination in between. The Nintendo Switch 2 edition was added on June 5, 2025, extending the pool to that hardware with full cross-play support, as covered by EventHubs.
One thing to clear up: there is no Xbox One or original Switch version. That also answers “is SF6 cross platform” for older hardware. It simply does not run on those consoles, so there is nothing to connect.
Does SF6 crossplay work in every mode?
Yes, cross-platform matching is active across the modes that matter:
- Fighting Ground: both Ranked Match and Casual Match pull from the shared cross-platform pool.
- Battle Hub: the online lobby where you walk up to cabinets and fight other players, mixed across platforms.
- Custom rooms: private and custom matches you set up with specific players.
Wherever you can find an opponent online, you can find one on another platform.
How to turn SF6 crossplay on or off
Crossplay is enabled by default, but you can control it in two places:
- The global toggle. Open the pause menu, go to Options, then the Game submenu, and switch Crossplay on or off. With it off, you only match players on your own platform.
- Battle Hub matchmaking. The Battle Hub has its own Matchmaking Crossplay setting that defaults to your own platform only. Set it to All if you want to be matched across every system inside the Hub.
That second setting trips people up: even with global crossplay on, your Battle Hub matches can stay same-platform until you change it to All.
How to play with cross-platform friends
PSN, Xbox, and Steam friend lists do not bridge platforms here. Street Fighter 6 uses a free Capcom ID and the CFN (Capcom Fighters Network) friends list instead. Make a Capcom ID, link your platform account, and add your friend by their Capcom ID, and then you can see each other and invite across systems regardless of hardware.
The simplest way to link up in practice is the Battle Hub: open View Contacts to find a friend and send an invite, and you will both end up in the same room no matter which platform either of you is on.
The catch: no cross-save or cross-progression
This is the big limitation. Street Fighter 6 has no cross-save and no cross-progression, as confirmed by Dot Esports. Crossplay lets you fight across systems, but your rank, Drive Tickets and Fighter Coins, cosmetics, and even DLC purchases are locked to the platform you bought them on. Buy the game and a character pass on PlayStation, switch to PC later, and you start fresh. The progress does not follow you.
