Yujiro Hanma in Tekken 8: Confirmed DLC, Not a Rumor

Tekken 8 Character Guide
Tekken 8 reveal art of Yujiro Hanma from Baki, grinning with his red hair against a fiery sky beside his name in large type

Yes. Yujiro Hanma in Tekken 8 is real and officially confirmed, not a leak or fan rumor. The Baki “Ogre” was revealed as a DLC guest character at Combo Breaker 2026, and the teaser trailer hit the official Tekken channel on May 24, 2026. He is the second guest fighter in the game (after Final Fantasy XVI’s Clive Rosfield) and the fourth and final character of the Season 3 Pass, due in early 2027. The catch: the reveal was a CG teaser only, with no gameplay, moveset, or price. So if you searched “will Yujiro be in Tekken 8,” the answer flipped from speculation to fact in May 2026, but he is not playable yet.

Is Yujiro Hanma in Tekken 8? The quick answer

He is confirmed but not yet released. Here is the at-a-glance status before we get into detail.

  • Confirmed: yes, officially announced, not a rumor
  • Revealed: Combo Breaker 2026; trailer published May 24, 2026
  • Character type: DLC guest from the Baki manga/anime
  • Guest number: 2nd ever (after Clive Rosfield, FFXVI)
  • Season: 4th and final fighter of the Season 3 Pass
  • Release window: early 2027 (Jan–Mar, per the Season 3 Pass listing)
  • Playable now: no, teaser only, no gameplay shown

Yujiro Hanma is genuinely coming to Tekken 8, but what dropped was a cinematic, not a kit — confirmation, not gameplay. There is nothing to lab yet.

The reveal: what Bandai Namco actually announced

Bandai Namco closed out a Tekken segment at Combo Breaker 2026 with a CG cinematic introducing Yujiro, and pushed the teaser trailer to the official Tekken and Bandai Namco YouTube channels on May 24, 2026 (English and Japanese versions both exist). The reveal leaned hard on his signature look: the “Demon Back,” where the muscles across his back flex into the shape of a snarling demon or ogre face. It is the most recognizable image in all of Baki, and it is exactly what they showed off. The announcement was covered widely that same weekend, including by Gematsu and Crunchyroll.

TEKKEN 8 – Yujiro Hanma Teaser

What the trailer confirmed:

  • Yujiro is a real, playable DLC fighter: Tekken 8’s second guest character ever, and the first drawn from a manga/anime rather than a video game.
  • He is the fourth and final character of the Season 3 Pass, following Kunimitsu, Bob, and Roger Jr. (the trio officially revealed in Bandai Namco’s Season 3 announcement).
  • He arrives in early 2027, the closing drop of the season.

What the trailer did not show was any gameplay. No moveset, no frame data, no price: it was a teaser. For the bigger picture on where he sits among every paid fighter, see our Tekken 8 DLC characters breakdown.

Rumor vs reality: the Yujiro Tekken 8 question is settled

For a long time, “Yujiro in Tekken 8” was pure speculation, the kind of crossover wishlist fans float for every aggressive anime bruiser. Plenty of people assumed any Yujiro Tekken 8 talk was a fake leak, partly because manga guests felt unlikely for a series that had mostly pulled guests from other video games (Akuma, Geese, and Noctis in Tekken 7; Clive in Tekken 8).

That skepticism is now outdated. As of the May 24, 2026 reveal, Yujiro Hanma is officially confirmed. If you are still seeing posts framing him as “rumored” or “leaked,” they predate the announcement. The only open questions left are how he plays and exactly when he drops, not whether he is coming.

Who is Yujiro Hanma? A Baki primer for Tekken players

If you came from the fighting-game side and have never read Baki, here is the short version. Yujiro Hanma is the main antagonist of Keisuke Itagaki’s Grappler Baki / Baki series, and the father of its protagonist, Baki Hanma (and of Jack Hanma). He is nicknamed “The Ogre” (Oni) and is repeatedly called the “Strongest Creature on Earth”: in-universe, a mixed striker-grappler with superhuman strength he has had since birth.

His calling card is that Demon Back, plus a body of deliberately over-the-top feats that fans love to quote: supposedly making the United States government sue for peace with him personally, or stopping an earthquake by bracing the tectonic plates. Treat all of that as manga mythology, not literal fact: it is the series leaning into how absurdly strong he is, the same way Tekken treats its own lore.

One important clarification for Tekken players: Yujiro’s “Ogre” nickname has nothing to do with Tekken’s existing boss character Ogre / True Ogre. They share a theme, not an identity.

Would Yujiro fit Tekken 8? The crossover case

On paper, he slots in cleanly. That is probably why this one landed.

  • The demon/ogre theme is already core Tekken. Between the classic boss Ogre and True Ogre, and the Devil Gene that drives the whole Mishima saga, a literal “Ogre” bruiser is thematically right at home.
  • The Heat system rewards raw aggression. Heat is Tekken 8’s central mechanic (a once-per-round aggression button), and a hyper-physical pressure character is an obvious fit for that pace.
  • The guest precedent is set. Clive Rosfield proved Tekken 8 will fully commit to a crossover fighter with bespoke animations. Yujiro is the next step: the first anime/manga guest rather than a game guest.

To be clear, this is the case for why he fits the world, not a claim about his actual kit. We do not know how he plays.

What we still don’t know

Here is what genuinely remains unknown:

  • No moveset. No notation, no signature strings, no special moves.
  • No frame data. Nothing about startup, recovery, plus or minus on block.
  • No archetype. Is he a grappler, a striker, a stance character, a charge character? Unknown.
  • No tier placement. He is not on any tier list because he does not have a kit. He will not appear on the current Tekken 8 tier list until he is actually playable.
  • No exact date. “Early 2027” is a window, not a day. The Season 3 Pass listing narrows it only to January–March 2027.
  • No standalone price. He is included in the Season 3 Character Pass, which notes individual DLC can be bought standalone, but no separate Yujiro price has been announced as of June 2026.

So if you find a “Yujiro Hanma movelist,” “best Yujiro combos,” or a tier ranking for him right now, it is fabricated or speculative. There is no source material to base it on yet.

Release timeline: when does Yujiro Hanma come to Tekken 8?

Yujiro is the last stop on the Season 3 roadmap. Here is the running order.

DropCharacterWindowStatus
1KunimitsuJune 2026Released (Jun 1)
2BobSummer 2026Upcoming (window only)
3Roger Jr.Fall 2026Upcoming (window only)
4Yujiro HanmaEarly 2027Upcoming (window only)

How to get him when he lands:

  • Season 3 Character Pass. He is bundled with the other three Season 3 fighters. Pass holders also get early access before general release: for Season 3 that head start is 120 hours (five days), the length the Season 3 Pass lists for every character in the set.
  • Standalone. Individual purchase is expected, as with past fighters, but his price has not been confirmed.

He arrives on a later game patch in early 2027; the live build as of mid-2026 was the 3.01 line (Kunimitsu shipped on Version 3.01.01, per EventHubs’ patch notes).

New to Tekken 8? What this news is pulling you into

If the Baki crossover is what got you curious about Tekken 8, the basics:

  • Platforms. Tekken 8 launched January 26, 2024 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
  • The Heat system. The signature mechanic: activate Heat once per round for enhanced moves, chip damage on block, and Heat Dash / Heat Smash follow-ups. It rewards going forward.
  • Crossplay. Tekken 8 is the first Tekken with crossplay: PS5, Xbox, and PC share one matchmaking pool. The big caveat is no cross-progression: your rank and purchases are locked to one platform. Full details in our Tekken 8 crossplay guide.
  • Ranked. Tekken uses its own points-and-belts ladder, from Beginner up through the God of Destruction tiers, distinct from Street Fighter’s LP/MR or Strive’s Floors.
